The Nodding Donkey's 1st Annual Golf Tournament

on Wednesday, 08 June 2011. Posted in State and Allen Blog

Mark your calendars for the 1st Annual Nodding Donkey Charitable Golf Tournament. On June 24, 2011. It may be the most fun you will have this summer. Think about it, you get to play golf, you don’t have to exert anymore energy than it takes to swing a golf club, drink a beer, eat a hamburger and have your heart swell knowing that you are a part of making a kids dream come true. That’s right, if you participate, your entry fee gets you a round of golf, a cart, drinks (even some brought to you by cart girls), food and all profits go to The North Texas Make a Wish Foundation. It’s a win-win situation so come on in to The Nodding Donkey and get yourself or get a team of 4 registered now!

Have a Savory Wedding...

on Wednesday, 25 May 2011. Posted in State and Allen Blog

Planning a wedding can be a very stressful task.

We at Savory Catering take pride in all we do! Please take a look at our on-going “Works of Art”…
Visit our website to customize your menu, or let one of our catering specialists help you tailor a menu to create the perfect event for you and yours.

Anyone who has planned a wedding knows about the challenges of finding the perfect set of vendors to render services. Below are just a few of the helping hands that we work with.

We love The Cup Cakery. All of our baking is done in house by our amazing Pastry Chef Penelope Carlton minus the cupcakes. In recent trends we have seen many brides use cupcakes in place of their wedding cake. This can be much easier for everyone. No cake cutting means no plate ware and no mess. Another thing that makes this more appealing is that you have many more options of cake and icing flavors.

Floral shops are not hard to find in the DFW area. We just wanted to recommend a good reliable source to you. This picture was from Angela and Johnathan Calabrese’s wedding at the Filter Building, and serves as a wonderful example. Garden Gate Flowers has beautiful arrangements. Angela simply said “I like Green Apples”, and the friendly staff at Garden Gate came up with what you see. We think they nailed it! What do you think? They do not have a website but feel free to add them as a friend on facebook.

P.O.S.H. Couture Rentals is a locally women owned and operated business specializing in luxury event rentals located in the Dallas Design District. It’s our one stop shop for rentals.

We have worked with Times Ten Cellars for almost ten years. They not only have a wonderful wine selection, but a very quaint and elegant venue.  It’s located at 6324 Prospect Ave. Dallas, TX in the Heart of Lakewood. Create a little of your own romance and passion. Reserved space is available for your own private wine tasting, wedding reception, company party, or any special event.

Another preferred venue of ours is the Filter Building. Atop the southwest shore of White Rock Lake, the historic Filter Building is ready and waiting to host your next affair. Beautiful terraces and sweeping views take your breath away. Their vintage industrial interior serves as the perfect backdrop to carry out any theme.

A big thank you to each of our vendors, we could not do anything without all of you!
Have a Savory Day.

Chef Showcase 2011

on Friday, 06 May 2011. Posted in State and Allen Blog

It was an honor to join together for a good cause.
On April 29, 2011,CB Richard Ellis hosted its 13th Annual Chefs Showcase at The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas.
The black-tie gala raises money for Camp John Marc, a camp dedicated to serving children who are living with chronic and terminal illnesses.

Chefs Showcase brings together the most well-known area chefs to showcase their favorite dishes, raises money through a silent auction and casino.
Savory Catering and State and Allen Uptown was right there to help and support in any way possible.

Chef Jonathan Calabrese and Chef Joey Ryholt served ginger scallion crab cakes with tamarind wakami salad,
saki pickled orange and a yuzu soy sauce that everyone raved about!
Of course leave it to Savory Catering to end the night of right with a SWEET to-go bag, which included hand made truffles, champagne.
